Dr Jerome Ha is an Australian-trained Ophthalmologist with specialist expertise in cataract surgery, retinal diseases, glaucoma and ophthalmic plastic & reconstructive surgery. He graduated from the University of Melbourne and has further completed a Master in Medicine, Ophthalmic Science at the University of Sydney, with distinctions in Ophthalmic Anatomy and Physiology.

Dr Ha is a RANZCO (Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists) certified Ophthalmologist and fellowship trained Oculoplastic Surgeon. Dr Ha commenced training as an Ophthalmologist at the Sydney Eye Hospital, Australia and he has completed a fellowship in comprehensive Ophthalmology in Sydney and a further Oculoplastic fellowship in the United Kingdom.

He has been involved in the surgical training of future Ophthalmologists both in Australia and United Kingdom.

Dr Ha has published research papers on medical retina, glaucoma and oculoplastic in peer reviewed journals.

In addition to English, Dr Ha also speaks fluent Mandarin.

Dr Shish Lal is an Ophthalmic Surgeon with specific interests in cataract surgery and the management of macular degeneration. Dr Lal graduated from the University of Sydney in 1990 and completed his training in Ophthalmology at Sydney Eye Hospital. He then undertook further fellowship training in retinal diseases at St Thomas’ Hospital, London. He is a member of both the Australian and American Societies of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He is in private practice as a partner at Hornsby Eye Specialists in Florence Street, Hornsby and operates at Madison Day Surgery.

Justin received his medical degree from the University of Sydney in 1987 and completed the RACGP Family Medicine Program (FMP) in 1991. He became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1993. He received a Certificate of Recognition from the Australian Teleservices Association in 2012 for his work in telemedicine and has had extensive surgical and emergency medicine experience in the hospital system.

Justin is an experienced vasectomy surgeon performing over 1000 vasectomies a year across Australia and has performed over 8000 vasectomies to date. He presents to General Practice groups regularly around the country on the topic of vasectomy and has been interviewed on ABC Radio National, Sydney Morning Herald “Good Weekend”, Men’s Health Magazine and Channel 9’s “Today” morning show.

His current role is National Lead Vasectomy Surgeon at Marie Stopes Australia which involves education, training and maintaining vasectomy surgical standards across the country.

Dr Ilesh Patel is an Ophthalmic Surgeon with interests in Glaucoma and Cataract. He graduated from medical school at the University of New South Wales. In 2004, he completed a Masters in Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, USA, focusing on ophthalmic epidemiology and biostatistics. Following this, he was awarded the Delta Omega Scholarship to undertake a Fellowship in Preventative Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, USA. He completed his Ophthalmology training at Royal Adelaide Hospital/ Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide in 2009 and completed his subspecialty training in Glaucoma at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, Manchester, U.K.

Ilesh has interests in glaucoma surgery, in initiatives to enhance patient understanding of glaucoma, and public health issues surrounding the screening and treatment of glaucoma. He follows the latest developments in cataract surgery closely.

Ilesh is an Associate Research Fellow at Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Hospital. He is a member of the Australian Glaucoma Special Interest Group, European Glaucoma Society and American Glaucoma Society. He is well-published in peer-reviewed journals and recently completed a book chapter. His current research is focused on the use of micro-trabecular shunts to deliver less invasive glaucoma surgery. His other area of current research is in blindness prevention in rural Tanzania.

Dr Whitehouse completed his general medical training at the University of Sydney and Royal North Shore Hospital. He then undertook ophthalmology training at Westmead Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital. After graduating as an ophthalmologist he completed further studies in cataract and glaucoma at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, UK.

Since 1994 Dr Whitehouse has been in private practice in Hornsby with a subspecialty interest in cataract surgery and also operates at Madison Day Surgery.

Dr Sven Whitehouse is a member of the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists and the Australian Medical Association.

Dr. Steven Wine graduated from medicine at New South Wales University in 1987. After resident training he was involved in a glaucoma based research program through the Australian National University. His registrar training was based at Sydney Eye Hospital with significant periods of time in Darwin and Albury.

As an ophthalmologist, Dr Wine worked in Randwick, Fairfield and Blacktown before joining with Dr. Peter Anderson in Hornsby. Dr Wine has an interest in teaching and is involved in both undergraduate teaching, at the University of Sydney, and postgraduate training through the college of General Practitioners & AMEC.
