Madison Day Surgery is proud to be an affiliated Hospital of The University of Sydney. Madison Day Surgery has recently established a new affiliation with The University of Sydney, providing undergraduate medical, nursing and allied health professionals to undertake clinical placements in or dedicated ophthalmic facility of excellence.
This affiliation is through the Sydney Adventist Hospital Clinical School which opened in February 2011 with Federal Government support. It is the first fully-fledged private hospital clinical school in NSW and results from a partnership between the University of Sydney and Sydney Adventist Hospital. It is an inter-professional, multidisciplinary clinical school offering clinical training placements for medical, physiotherapy, pharmacy, and other allied health profession students.
The students experience clinical teaching in the consulting rooms of accredited specialists and surgical exposure at Epping Surgery Centre. Many of our specialists in Ophthalmology across Presmed Australia Group have academic appointments at the University of Sydney, many of them senior, while nursing is also included.
While the medical students initially are being exposed to Ophthalmic surgery we are hopeful of an extension to other disciplines and eventually to include nursing students in the future.
